研究概要	本特定領域研究は、平成9年度および平成10年度の2年間に渡って生体情報分子を標的とする機能探索分子を用いた生体機能の解明と制御を目指した研究が展開された。設定された課題(研究項目I:受容体の機能解析と個体レベルでの役割の解明。研究項目II:細胞内情報伝達の生理機能解析と情報分子の可視化。研究項目III:プロテインキナーゼを中心とする情報ネットワークの解析。研究項目IV:標的分子の構造情報に基づく分子設計及び有機合成)について、4つの研究班を設置し、関連諸分野の専門家を結集して機動的かつ弾力的に研究が遂行され、多くの成果をあげることができた。主な成果としては、プロスタグランジンなど膜受容体の構造および機能解析、細胞増殖シグナル経路の解明、カルシウムオシレーション制御機構の解明、新規タンパク質リン酸化酵素の発見、キナーゼカスケードの機能解析、神経細胞死を抑制するプロスタグランジンの創製と脳内新規受容体解析、などがあげられる。本年度の取りまとめ研究では、これまでに各研究班で得られた研究成果を総合的に評価・総括するため、外部研究者を交えて2回の研究会議を開催した(平成11年8月5日、同9月4日)。また、研究成果については240ページに渡る冊子として取りまとめ、本領域研究班員のみならず、約500人の関連研究者に配付し、その情報を公開した。これらの活動を通じて研究班員同士および関連研究者との間での有意義な意見の交換、相互評価が行われ、大きな研究成果へと結実した。本研究により、これまで連携の機会が限られていた化学・生物学・医学などの学問領域が融合し、ライフサイエンスの重要課題に取り組む学際研究の基盤が構築できた。
