研究概要

5月10日(月)に総括班会議(幹事会)を東京で開催し、本年度の活動方針を決定した。決定事項は次の通りである。ニュースレターを年3回(8月、12月、3月)、班員名簿(6月)を発行し、計画研究を公募研究の研究成果を年度末(3月)に発行する。コンファランス、公開シンポジウム及び若手研究者を中心とするワークショップを各々年1回開催する。これらの活動方針は順調に行われ、名簿は6月、ニュースレターは8月、12月に発行され、3月の発行も予定通りに進行している。公開シンポジウムは「細胞内シグナル伝達と転写調整」というタイトルのもとに6月1日(火)東大本郷キャンパス山上会議所で開催された。北海道や九州からの参加もあり、参加者数は200名に近く、活発な討論に終始した。コンファランスは9月16日(木)〜18日(土)京都平安会館で行われた。参加者は研究班員、班友及び同伴者を含め、合計125名であった。スピーカーは計画研究、公募研究班員54名、班友4名で合計58名であった。活発な討論があり、構造研究者と機能の研究者の共同研究の成果の発表もあって、稔の多いコンファランスであった。若手研究者の育成を目的に開かれる若手冬のワークショップは今年度も平成12年1月11日(火)〜13日(木)まで妙高高原で開かれ、約50名の参加者があった。会は"転写調節から疾患へのアプローチ"、"生命現象への遺伝学的アプローチ"、"様々な生物を用いた転写研究へのアプローチ"の3セッションと2題の特別講演で構成され合計19題の話題提供があった。総括班は会場費と話題提供者の宿泊費及び交通費の一部を支援した。会は午後スキーを楽しみながら、午前と夜はインフォーマルな雰囲気で大変活発な討論がなされた。今年度の研究報告書は3月中に発行されるために準備は順調に進められている。
