研究概要	1997年4月〜2001年3月まで行われた特別推進研究"転写調節機構から挑む高次生命現象の解析研究の推進"の研究取りまとめの研究班は主に2つの活動を行った。一つは英文の報告書の発行と転写調節機構のシンポジウムを10月15、16日に筑波大学において開催した。英文の報告書は"Transcriptional Mechanisms Controlling Organized Functionsins Vertebrates"の題名で、本特定の分担者合計87名の研究のsummary、文献リスト、代表的論文及び文献のまとめより構成されている。論文の合計900編、論文の平均インパクト係数は8.3でCell、Nature、Scienceなども含めて、質の高い国際的専門誌に掲載されたものが多かった。シンポジウムは46名の講演者が発表し、約250名の参加者があった。発表者は基本転写因子、転写共役因子、転写伸長反応、クロマチン再構成系による転写機構、DNA結合転写調節因子、シグナル伝達と転写因子など転写調節に関する過去4年間のまとめと最新の成果が発表された。多くの質疑応答がなされ、活発な雰囲気の中に終始したシンポジウムであった。
