超並列計算機CP-PACSを用いた格子上の素粒子標準理論の研究の展開

研究概要

格子上の場の理論は素粒子の標準理論における非摂動現象を数値シミュレーションするための有力な方法である。本計画は、筑波大学計算物理学研究センターが中心となり開発・製作した超並列計算機CP-PACSの強力な計算能力を最大限に活用することにより、格子QCDによる質量スペクトル等ハドロンの分光学的諸量の連続極限値を正しく導くことを目的とする。
平成9年度の成果の一は、クォークの対生成対消滅の効果を無視したクェンチ近似の範囲内での軽いハドロンの質量スペクトル等分光学的諸量の精密計算である。CP-PACSの強力な計算力と、クェンチ近似の性質に関する理論的進歩を背景に、大規模な計算を行い、クエンチ近似による実験値からのずれの存在と大きさを明確にした。これにより、ここ10年来の懸案であったクエンチ近似の精度の問題に対してほぼ最終的な結果を得た。
この研究により、10%以上の精度でハドロンの性質を計算するためには、クォークの対生成対消滅の効果を正しく取り入れた、近似なしのフルQCD計算を行う必要があることが明らかになった。しかしフルQCD計算は膨大な計算量を要求しており、これまでの多くの研究で用いられてきた標準的な格子作用では現実への信頼できる予言を行う事ができない。格子化による誤差を減少させるために格子作用の改良が必要である。
平成9年度の成果の二は、改良された作用を用いたフルQCDシミュレーションの準備と予備的計算の実行である。作用のゲージ部分とクォーク部分の両方を改良することにより、種々の物理量を近似なしに求められる可能性を明らかにした。
以上のQCD計算と並んで、弱電相転移のシミュレーションのためのプログラム開発が進行中である
