大脳高次運動野と前頭連合野における随意運動発現の時間的制御機構

研究概要	実験研究は当初の予測を上回る程度に進捗し、成果を発表するに至った。更に研究を発展させて、大脳連合野の広範な領域について研究を進め、それらについても成果を得るに至った。まず大脳皮質内側の高次運動野である補足運動野と前補足運動野について、一過性機能脱失の実験研究結果から複数動作の順序制御に不可欠である事が証明されるに至ったので、その成果をふまえて、それらの領野における細胞活動を比較検討した。その結果、二種類の動作を時間的に結び付ける動作連鎖の情報は補足運動野細胞に多く表現されていることが判明した。他方行なう動作が何番目であるかという順番情報は前補足運動野細胞に顕著に表現されていることも解った。また動作手順の更新に際しては前補足運動野細胞野細胞活動が顕著に出現することも発見した。次に研究を大脳前頭葉の前頭前野に発展させ、すでに記憶させた情報と、現在存在する感覚情報を統合して、将来行うべき動作の方向の情報を抽出させる、いわば過去,現在,未来をつなぐ過程を詳細に検討した。まずサンプル図形を与え,丸または三角形の位置と形態を記憶させた。数秒後に照合図形を眼前に出現させ、その現在図形の特徴と、記憶された図形の特徴の組み合わせから、将来行うべき動作の方向を企画させるという課題を作成し、日本ザルにそれを行うように学習させた。その行動下に前頭前野の細胞活動を記録解析した。その結果、記憶情報として保存された図形の位置・形態情報と、現在与えられた図形から抽出される情報が有機的に統合され,130ないし250ミリ秒という短時間において、企画するべき動作の方向を示す情報に変換される過程が明らかとなった。更に研究は運動前野に関しても行い、数秒間の時間差で与えた二種類の情報、すなわち身体部位情報と動作の標的情報が、どのように情報変換され、それらの統合された動作企画の情報の生成に至るかという過程を検索し、運動前野の細胞活動によって明確に表現することに成功した。以上の研究成果をまとめて学会報告し、欧文誌に発表した。
