研究概要	複雑系研究における数学的アプローチを模索する当研究計画の初年度に当る今年度は、複雑系研究者によるサーベイを中心とした研究会・WWWサーバ・メーリングリスト等を介し数学の立場からの取組を中心に議論した。その結果以下のような視点が浮かび上がり当研究計画の今後2年間の方向付けが明確になった。 1.数学的立場から見た複雑系の基本問題.(1)数学的記述法の模索.複雑系は複数の記述系を必要とするが、物理的・生理的側面以外の記述系には数学的枠組が欠除している。今年度の議論を通してマトロイド・チュー空間・分散システム理論・高次元圏論などの数学的枠組みが複雑系の新しい記述法を与える可能性があることがわかった。(2)数学的語りかたの模索.内部観測の視点を入れて複雑系を考えるときは、複雑系を数理的対象とし捕捉することの是非が主要な問題として浮かび上がる。この場合は「数学的定式化」概念自身が問われることになる。この方向でも圏論(使用法も組み込んだ対象規定)・内的集合論(境界のない区別)・直観主義集合論・擬無矛盾論理(矛盾を許す推論形式)のように種々の可能性があることがわかってきた. 2.具体的試み.分担者の試みの中で内部観測的な視点も込めた複雑系の新しい取り組みとなる可能性があるものが種々提案された。例えば(1)時間の新しいモデル.分担者郡司幸夫はベルグソンの時間の概念に基づく新しい数理的モデルを与え動物の縄張りの様相を明確にする数理モデルを構成した。(2)自動翻訳システムの分析.分担者柴田勝征は1万近くの翻訳規則からなる日英翻訳システムを構成したがこれらの規則全体と規則のチューニング者とを合わせたものが複雑系のモデルとみれることを提案した。(3)動物の意識レベルの分類実験の提案.分担者津田一郎は様相論理のクラスを通して動物の意識レベルを論ずる可能性があることを指摘した。
