大気CO_2濃度上昇への光合成のsource-sink機構を通じた物質生産過程の対応

研究概要

本研究では、ダイズ(Glycine max L. Merr. Cv. Tsurunoko)の一枚の初生葉(source器官)と根系(sink器官)のみから成る光合成source-sinkモデル植物を用いて、高CO_2濃度条件下でのsink-limit状態における光合成速度低下について、source-sink制御機構の面から解析を行った。その結果、highCO_2分圧下でsink-limit状態になったモデル植物における光合成速度低下の主要な原因であるcarboxylation効率の低下は、chloroplast内への大量のstarchの蓄積によって、細胞間隙からchloroplastへのCO_2の拡散、即ちCO_2 transfer conductanceの低下に主に起因していることが明らかとなった。即ち、highCO_2植物においてはCO_2 transfer conductanceの低下によって、chloroplast stroma中のRuBPcaseの基質であるCO_2濃度が低下し、その結果RuBPcaseによるcarboxylation反応が低下することによって、光合成速度の低下がもたらされることを示す。以上のことからsource-sinkモデル植物を用いた本研究は、highCO_2分圧下でsink-limit状態となり、光合成速度が低下した場合におけるcarboxylation効率低下の要因としてのchloroplast内へのstarch蓄積によるCO_2 transfer conductance低下の重要性を明確に示すことができた。
