二次元凝集系における分子分散-相分離状態のナノ制御

研究概要	炭素数16の脂肪酸であるパルミチン酸と炭素数24のリグノセリン酸とから調製した混合単分子膜の形態を、原子間力顕微鏡、水平力顕微鏡観察及び表面圧-表面積曲線測定、により評価した。パルミチン酸及びリグノセリン酸の単一系単分子膜は、両者ともその表面は形態学的に均一であり、膜厚は各々1nmと3nmであった。原子間力顕微鏡観察により、パルミチン酸とリグノセリン酸のモル混合比が1:1の混合単分子膜の表面には円状ドメインという形態の高い領域と低い領域の2領域が存在し、それら領域の面積比は混合比と同じ1:1であり、その高低差はパルミチン酸とリグノセリン酸との分子長の差にほぼ相当する約2nmであることが明らかとなった。水平力顕微鏡像は原子間力顕微鏡像のコントラストが反転した像であり、原子間力顕微鏡像中の高い領域と低い領域は凝集性が異なる領域であることが明らかとなった。さらに、膜厚の走査力依存性から、原子間力顕微鏡像中の高い領域は凝集性が高く、低い領域はそれが低いと評価され、各々がリグノセリン酸分子とパルミチン酸分子が凝集した領域であると帰属され、本混合単分子膜は相分離形態を形成することが明らかとなった。表面圧-表面積曲線より評価した分子占有面積と混合比は線形関係を示さなかった。これは、従来の概念に基づくと本混合単分子膜中のリグノセリン酸分子とパルミチン酸分子は相分離状態ではなく二次元分子分散状態にあることを示唆している。分子占有面積と混合比の結果と原子間力顕微鏡、水平力顕微鏡観察の結果の相違から、従来の多成分系単分子膜の形成概念が必ずしも正しくないことが明らかとなった。
