黒潮・親潮移行域の中規模海洋変動が小型浮魚類仔稚魚の成長と生残に及ぼす影響の解明

研究概要	本研究では、黒潮・親潮移行域を主な対象として、イワシ類など小型浮魚類の加入量変動に重要なかかわりを持つと考えられる中規模海洋変動、とくに黒潮フロントの擾乱に伴ってその縁辺域に発生する暖水舌や低気圧性の前線渦の、生物生産や仔稚魚の成長・生残に対する影響のプロセスを解明しようとしている。本年度は、1997年6月に黒潮続流フロント域で実施した集中観測の結果を、昨年度とりまとめた1996年5-6月の観測結果と対比することによって、黒潮・親潮移行域における仔稚魚(主にカタクチイワシ)やその餌生物の空間分布構造が、水温などで指標される海洋の物理構造ときわめて密接に関連していることを明らかにした。黒潮フロントの北縁に広がる黒潮系の暖水域は生物生産が高く、仔稚魚の摂餌に潜在的に好適な条件を提供している。その生物生産の高さは、黒潮フロントの擾乱にともなって周期的・間欠的に発生する低気圧性の前線渦による栄養塩の湧昇や、仔稚魚とその餌生物の水平輸送の効果に大きく依存している。また、カタクチイワシの発生初期の卵が、黒潮系暖水と親潮系冷水のフロント付近で集中的に採集されたことから、そのような海洋特性が産卵行動とも密接に関連することが示唆された。今後、これらのプロセスを仕分けしながら、仔稚魚の成長と生き残りとの関連を実証的に検討していく予定である。なお、以上の研究成果については、論文として印刷公表するとともに、日本水産学会、日本海洋学会、ポルトガルで開催された国際シンポジウム(ICES主催)などで口頭発表(計11件)を行った。
