研究概要

服部は研究分担者の山田との共同研究により、距離空間上に定義される二つの超限次元、大きい帰納次元Indと順序次元0-dimの関連を調べ、「距離空間Xにおいて、Xが大きい帰納次元Indを持つことと、Xが順序次元0-dimを持つこととは同等であり、かつInd X≦0-din Xが成り立つ」ことを証明した。これは、0-dinの概念を導入したF.G.Arenasの問題に対する肯定解である。距離空間の群構造に関して服部は、「実数空間上の通常の位相より弱くて、点列{2^n:n=1,2...}が0に収束し、さらに位相群となる距離位相が存在する」ことを証明し、「そのような位相で線形性を保つものは存在しない」ことを証明した。これは、R.Fricの問題の解である。位相群に関しては更に、山田により距離空間の自由群の位相構造について研究され、自由群の位相構造がその近傍系により表現されることが示された。服部は、順序構造を持つ位相空間における連続関数の拡張性について調べ、「完全正規な順序空間において、ある条件を満たせば、Dugundjiの拡張定理が成立する」ことを証明した。これは、Heath-Lutzerの問題に対する部分解である。また、順序空間における完全正規性については、三輪等により研究された。野倉とShakhmatovは、距離区間における位相的性質を、連続な選択関数の存在性により決定付けることについて研究した。特に、区間の特徴付けを選択関数の存在性により行った。前田は微分幾何学的立場より、複素射影空間内における円の構造について研究した。
