一次相転移の誘導期間における秩序形成の解明

研究概要	1次相転移には、誘導期間と呼ばれる前駆現象が観察される場合がある。この誘導期間は、古典的には、核形成・成長において、新しい相の核が安定に存在し得るまでの確率的な時間であると説明されてきた。本研究では、高分子・界面活性剤・液晶分子に代表されるような複雑液体においては、その大きな内部自由度に基づく複数の秩序変数間のカップリングにより様々な相転移前駆現象が観察されることを明らかにした。 1)高分子の結晶化誘導期間における秩序形成高分子結晶化において、最初に高分子鎖が平行に配向し(ネマティク転移)、その後、分子鎖間のアジャストメントによりパッキングが開始し、誘導期間は平行配向化の段階であることを明らかにした。また、そのメゾスケールでの秩序形成がスビノーダル分解のキネティクスに従い、この実験結果が土井らの平行配向理論と記述できることを見い出した。 2)高分子/液晶系の液晶・結晶化転移のキネティクス高分子/液晶系では、高分子濃度がある値以上になると液晶分子が結晶化する。我々は、高分子/液晶系の結晶化挙動をモンテカルロシミュレーション手法により追跡した。その結果、液晶分子の結晶化の前段階で液晶分子の配向秩序化が進んでいることが予想されることが明らかとなった。 3)非イオン性界面活性剤/水系でのモルフォロジー転移の前駆現象ラメラ/Gyroid転移点より高温側のラメラ相においてすでに、Gyroid相に繋がる特定の波数ベクトルをもつ膜の揺らぎが発生し、温度が転移点に近づくにつれてその揺らぎが次第に成長し、最終的には、ラメラ面に穴のあいた穴あきラメラ構造が形成される事が明らかにし、モルフォロジ-転移の前駆現象として膜に特定の揺らぎのモードが安定化する現象を見出した。
