セラミックスにおける相変態および人工界面の結晶学的研究

研究概要

セラミックスならびに金属間化合物は、高温強度に優れている反面、脆いという欠点がある。そこで、微細組織形成予測に基づき材料組成制御を行うと同時に詳細な微細組織に関する結晶学的研究等を遂行し、機械的性質を初め各種物性に及ぼす微細組織の影響等を精力的に検討した。
典型的な例として、メカニカルアロイング法により作製したMo-(HfC or TiC)複合材料中の炭化物等の粒界析出反応の解明、酸素ドープしたシリコン基板中の酸化物析出が及ぼす不純物挙動への効果および材料純化機構の解明、Ti-Al合金における相分離機構の解明ならびにこの結果を活用したTi-Al-X(X=Cr,Zr,Mo等)三元系合金のβ相安定化への第三元素添加の効果とその高温領域での相分離が及ぼす機械的性質への影響の検討、低炭素低合金鋼の耐溶接性改良のための粒内フェライト形成に及ぼす介在析出物形成機構の解明、高合金鋼中の相分離機構に及ぼす合金元素の効果の解明、Ti基抗菌・生体材料の相分離機構の解明、ならびにAl基合金中の相分離過程および各種化合物の形成機構に関する検討など、広範囲にわたって研究を進め、相分離機構等の検討を通じて、各種化合物等の挙動に関する基礎的知見を得た。
以上の成果より、セラミックスを初めとする各種材料における相平衡および相変態に関する結晶学的研究を通じて、特に、異相界面(人工制御界面)構造が微細組織の分布、サイズおよび析出異方性に多大なる影響を及ぼすことが明確となり、各種物性制御に大いに貢献することが判明した。
