半単純リー群のユニタリ表現の分岐則の「離散分解可能モデル」とその応用

研究概要

ユニタリ表現の分岐則を調べることは,表現論の最も基本的な問題の一つである。しかし、非コンパクトなリー群の場合,その困難さゆえに過去50年間、非常に限られた設定でしか実質的な研究がなかった。申請者がInvent.Math.(1994)において提唱した「離散分解可能モデル」はユニタリ表現の分岐則の問題を考えるにあたって、「重要かつ良いクラス」を抽出し、そのクラスに限って深い研究を目指すものである。今年度の研究成果の主たるものは以下の通りである。
i) 「離散分解可能モデル」の基礎づけを与えた。文献(Annals of Math.1998)では超局所的手法により解析的離散分解の十分条件を証明し,文献(Invent.Math.1998)では離散分解の代数的な定式化を行い、代数的離散分解の必要条件を随伴多様体の性質を用いて証明した。さらに.解析的離散分解と代数的離散分解の定式化の差を積極的に捉え.Wallachの有限重複度予想を証明した。
ii) 離散分岐理論のトポロジーへの応用として,モジュラー多様体の消滅型定理を与えた。特に.IV型有界対称領域のtotally realなモジュラー多様体に対し.中央のHodge成分を具体的に決定した(織田孝幸氏と共同:Connnent.Math.Helvetiei.1998)。
iii) 離散分岐理論の大域解析を用いて、等質空間上の新しい離散系列表現の発見と構成を行った(J.Funct.Annal.1998)。その証明は,離散分岐理論と前年度に実行した「非対称空間上の不変測度の漸近挙動の記述と部分多様体における測度の漸近挙動に関する比較定理」(Crelle J.1997)を基盤として行われる。
iv) 等質空間に離散群が作用しているとき.その作用が固有不連続になるための判定条件を決定し、その判定条件を用いて、擬Rieinnann等質多様体における不連続群の変形を研究した。特に、3次元のLorentz多様体におけるGoldmanの予想を高次元を含めて肯定的に解決した(Math.Ann.1998)。
