アメマスと共存するオショロコマにみられる形質置換の進化要因の実験的解析

研究概要

北海道内の8河川から、総計1400個体のオショロコマを採集し、アメマスと同所的に生息する幹線と単独で生息する河川との間で採餌関連部位の形態の比較および胃内容物の分析を行った。その結果、同所的な河川では、異所的な河川と比較して明らかに下顎長が短く、幅が広くなる傾向が認められた。また、同所的な河川では、個体間における明瞭な形態変異が認められ、顎の短い個体ほど異内容物中にしめる底生無脊椎動物の割合が高い傾向が認められた。したがって、同所的な河川における、オショロコマの採餌関連部位の特異的な形態は、明らかにアメマスとの種間競争に起因する形質置換によるものであることが明らかとなった。現在、投稿原稿を準備中である。さらに、北海道大学苫小牧地方演習林内の河川に設置したエンクロージャーにオショロコマとアメマスの双方を放流し、競争の強度と形態に関する実験を行った。実験結果はいまだ解析中であるが、下顎の短い個体ほど、アメマスとの共存下においても採餌成功の程度が小さいという傾向が得られた。これは、アメマスとの形態上の類似性が小さい個体ほど、資源の重複が小さく競争の影響を受けにくいためと考えられる。現在これらのデータを取りまとめ中である。
