研究概要

本研究は、現在世界中で進行している各種生物のゲノムプロジェクトを受けて、そこから産生される膨大なゲノムの塩基配列データを用いて、相同遺伝子グループを同定するとともに、それぞれのグループごとでマルチプルアラインメントを作成し、遺伝子機能の推定を行うことにある。特に、正の自然淘汰が働いている遺伝子内領域の推定を行い、それらと機能的ドメインとの対応関係を調べることによって、遺伝子のドメイン進化の予測を行う方法を探索しようというものであった。
本年度は、相同遺伝子グループのマルチプルアライメント作成のアルゴリズムを洗練させることに成功した。ただ機能的ドメインの同定に少し手こづっており、これはもう少し時間を要する。しかし、遺伝子内において正の自然淘汰の働く領域の推定には、ウィンドウ解析を同義置換と非同義置換に行いうるというアイデアで、うまくいくことが実証され、そのプログラムも完成した。これらは遺伝子機能やその変化の予測に多いに役立つものと期待される。
