研究概要

1992年の地球サミットで世界海洋観測システム(GOOS)の構築が提案され、ユネスコ政府間海洋学委員会(IOC)が推進している。GOOSは気候、海の健康、生物資源、沿岸域を観測し、海洋業務として予報を確立することを目指している。IOC西太平洋地域小委員会は日本海、東シナ海、黄海の縁辺海の北東アジア地域計画(NEAR-GOOS)を1997年に発足させた。この海域では、日本、中国、韓国、ロシアが観測を実施しているが、従来のデータ交換は18月以内を目標とし海洋予報には適さないので、共用のデータベースに準リアルタイムで通報する仕組みである。私たちは、特定領域研究(B)「縁辺海の海況予報のための海洋環境モニタリングの研究」(平成11〜14年度)を実施しており、日本海、東シナ海、黄海の北東アジア縁辺海における水温、塩分、海水流動、水位変動、化学物質、プランクトン量などの現況を把握し、予報することを目的とする。
本基盤研究では、日本海、東シナ海のデータ交換促進、観測協力、国際計画への提言をはかる。今年度はノルウエー・ベルゲンにおける世界海洋観測システム(GOOS)関連の企画会合、サンパウロにおける世界海洋観測のためのパートナーシップ会合に派遣した。日本海と地中海の海洋特性の比較研究を進めるために日本・チュニジア科学シンポジウムに参加した。9月5日〜10月19日に白鳳丸による東シナ海、黄海の海況観測があり、航海計画打ち合わせのために韓国の派遣し、海底ケーブル利用の海流観測のために台湾から白鳳丸航海に招聘した。これらの成果は科学研究費補助金「特定領域研究(B)縁辺海の海況予報のための海洋環境モニタリングの研究」に活用した。
