研究概要	インド及びスリランカで、野外調査、地質資料収集、研究情報収集、研究討論などを、研究分担者ら13人の派遣延べ251人日及び現地参加23人延べ386人日の合計延べ637人日により実施した。また、インドから研究分担者ら2名を合計延べ50人日間招聘した。これらの事業の結果、以下の成果を得た。 1. インド中央構造帯東部のシンブム褶曲帯と、西部のアラバリ・デリー褶曲帯の模式的横断ルートを観察し、同帯の地質概要の理解を深めた。また、地質資料の収集を行い、将来の分析的研究の準備が整った。 2. 国際シンポジウムに参加し、研究発表を行ったほか、研究討論と研究情報の収集を行った。この結果、これらの両地帯の地質概要と研究の現状が把握された。 3. シンブム褶曲帯については、インド地質調査所、びカルカッタ大学、プレジデンシー大学及びジャダブプール大学の、アラバリ・デリー帯については、ラジャスタン大学とウダイプール大学の研究者らとの共同研究を開始できた。共同研究は、これらの両地帯で最も必要とされている年代学的研究が中心課題となっている。 4. うえのインドの諸研究機関の研究者らを日本に招聘し、一方、日本の大学院生を現地に長期間派遣し、共同研究の実質的な進展を計る計画が策定された。 5. インド中央構造帯及び周辺地域に関する文献学的研究を行い、同地帯が、後期原生代-前期古生代のロディニア、ゴンドワナ超大陸の再構成の解明に重要な鍵を握っていることが指摘された。以上の調査活動、研究の成果は、国内外の学術雑誌や大学英文紀要など印刷中を含めて12編、国際シンポジウム等での講演で、学術誌等に発表されたもの19題、国際学会等の論文集の編著書3冊、国際学術誌等の編集7冊として公表された。
