研究概要

前年度に引き続いて、スピングラスを中心とした'ガラス的な系'における平衡・非平衡ダイナミックスを規定する'ゆらぎ'の本質を解明する共同研究を進めた。種々の課題に対する個別的な研究を関連メンバーが密接な研究交流を行ないながら進展させ、それぞれの成果を、京都(10月1999年)で開催した全体研究集会において全メンバー間で討議し、ガラス的な系におけるゆらぎに共通する普遍的な概念の構築を目指した。本年度に得られた主な研究成果は以下の通りである。
1)スピングラス(SG)におけるエイジング現象に関して:a)熱残留磁化の精密測定からSG相関長を抽出する研究を継続し、グレイン状SGにおける緩和過程のスケーリング則からのずれを検証した(Orbach)。b)温度シフト・サイクルを伴うエイジング過程において観測される、一見相矛盾する'若返り効果'と'記憶効果'について、位相空間の視点から説明する理論を提起し(Bouchaud)、また、同様の視点から'階層的ランダムエネルギー模型'を提起し、二つの効果の詳細を数値的に検証した(根本)。c)一方、EA模型について同過程に関するシミュレーションを行い、その結果が実スピン空間で構築された液滴描像とよく一致すること、但し、'若返り効果'は再現されないことを明らかにした(高山)。2)SGと不均一な強磁性体・強誘電体とにおけるエンジング現象を比較し、後者はランダムなピン止めポテンシャル中のドメイン壁の拡散(と消滅)によるものとする理論を提起した(Bouchaud,Cugliandolo)。3)ガラス的な系における相転移、あるいはそのゆらぎ特性に関した以下の課題について、本年度、以下の新たな知見が得られた。情報の確率的処理法へのSG平均場理論の展開(西森)、ベクトルSGにおけるカイラルガラス転移の理論の構築(川村)、セラミック超伝導体における新しいタイプの相の検証(松浦)、有限温度相転移を有する2次元SG模型の提起と磁場中SG転移の検証(Campbell)、巨大磁気抵抗系の相転移特性に対する不均一性効果のゆらぎ測定による解析(Weissman)。
