研究概要	節足動物色覚系の研究を国際的に推進するために、オランダのスタベンガ教授および大阪教育大学関助教授の参加をあおいで、本国際学術研究を行っている。本年度はアメリカでの資料採集を8月に行なった。10月にはオランダ・グロニンゲン大学において、スタベンガ教授、関助教授、私の3名で今後の研究計画について具体的な討論を行った。この際、関助教授は98年4月からの文部省在外研究員としての欧州滞在の最終月として、グロニンゲン大学のスタベンガ研究室に滞在中だったため、国際学術研究としての派遣対象にはならなかった。研究計画の討論では、今後数年間にわたって、特にジャノメチョウ科のチョウ類網膜の細胞構成に関する共同研究を推進することを確認した。ついでジャノメチョウ科の1種を使って、複眼の光学測定の予備実験を行った。予備実験の結果、この種では個眼最奥部からの反射波長特性に個眼ごとに特徴があって、少なくとも3種類のタイプを確認することができた。個眼タイプを生理学的に同定する研究を、来年度のシーズンに行う予定である。また、生理学実験がより容易な種を探索するために、来年度は台湾科学アカデミーのヤン博士の協力をあおぎ、台湾産チョウ類の複眼構造をサーベイする計画をたてている。このサーベイによって、特に今後数年間を費やして徹底的な生理学・生化学・生理光学的な研究を推進する対象を決定する予定である。
