研究概要	年度当初に提出した調査研究実施計画に基づき、本調査研究に必要不可欠な観測計画を厳選して別表のように、南天のオーストラリアへの観測と北天の北京天文台への観測を実施した.天候の関係で50〜60%の達成率であった.しかし得られたデータは質の高いデータであり、現在処理・解析中である。一部予備的な結果も得られており、それによると当初の予想に近い観測結果を与えるようである.来年度は,研究の総括の年にあたるので観測計画を当初より変更して結果を出せるようにしたい. また、2年で調査研究を完成させるため、各国研究者のほぼ中間にあたるハワイの国立天文台ハワイ観測所に集まり、「宇宙史の解読」をキーワードにして最近の観測と理論の現状をレビューした.そこで新しい星の元素組成解析の観測事実が紹介され以下のような問題点が指摘された. 1) 金属量が減少するにつれ酸素/鉄比は単調に増大しており、従来のような折れ曲がりは存在しないことが示された.理論的には超新星SNIaによって折れ曲がりが説明されてきたため理論を再検討するか、観測の精度を向上して結果を確かなものにするかが迫られた.この問題は宇宙の元素合成にとって重大な問題であり、すばるのHDSによる新しい結果が期待されている. 2) α-、r-、s一過程などの元素組成についても金属量の少ないところで特異な組成パターンを示しており、超新星による元素合成との比較が検討されている.しかし、観測データはまだ大きな誤差を含んでおり8m望遠鏡による信頼できる観測データが待たれている. また、他の観測グループのデータを活用する道も探っており、これも含めた観測データを用いて本調査研究を来年度に向けてまとめる予定である。
