研究概要	(1) 「刷り込み」学習の記名内容に関する神経行動学的解析 1998年9月、ハンガリーよりAndras Csillag博士を招へいし、上智大学(青木清教授)、広島大学(筒井和義教授)および名古屋大学(松島俊也助教授)の各々の研究室に滞在した。ウズラ雛の刷り込み学習の記名内容を明らかにするためにどのような行動学的研究を行うべきか、予備的な実験を行うとともに、今後の研究戦略について議論した。さらに広島大学では動物学会シンポジウム「鳥の脳の鳥瞰図:もう一つの知性」、および第一回「刷込み研究会」を実施し、広く意見の交換を行った。 (2) 雛鳥大脳基底核の神経回路に関する解剖学的解析 1998年11月、日本より松島俊也および柳原真(研究協力者、名古屋大学大学院生命農学研究科D1)をハンガリー・ブダペストに派遣し、センメルヴァイス医科大解剖学教室(Andras Csillag準教授)および獣医科大学動物学センター(Peter Kabai主任研究員)の各々の研究室に滞在した。固定した大脳組織標本の400ミクロン厚切片を作成し、顕微鏡直視下にて微小ガラス管ピペットによる単一ニューロンへの色素注入を試みた。その結果、非常に高い効率で目標とする単一ニューロンの細胞内染色が可能であることがわかった。特に棘突起に富む中型細胞群に注目して、形態学的特徴付けを行った。さらに、今後、双方の研究戦略について再度、議論した。
