界面テイラリングによる機能性複合材料の創製

研究概要

複合材の積層界面にインターリーフ・フィルムを挿入することにより複合材料の界面のテイラーリングを行い、静強度特性および耐疲労性の改善を試みた。疑似等方性積層の高強度炭素繊維/エポキシ積層材を供試材とし、インターリーフ材にはポリエチレンフィルムおよびポリイミドフィルムの2種類を用いた。結果として、積層層間にインターリーフ材を挿入することにより、はく離損傷が抑制され、強度特性が改善されることが明らかになった。疲労荷重下においては、はく離損傷の発生を遅延させ、さらに疲労破壊の直前まではく離の進展を抑制する効果があることが判明した。フィルム形状および挿入面積の最適化設計により弾性率の低下も抑制・制御できた。さらに有限要素法による解析を行なった結果、インターリーフは面内、面外せん断応力に関して著しい抑制効果があることが明らかとなり、実験結果を裏付けることができた。また振動下においては、振動エネルギーをフィルムのずり変形によって熱エネルギーに変換して吸収することによって高い振動減衰性能が得られることも明らかになった。
次に、Si-Ti-C-O連続繊維にアルミナ/ホウケイ酸ガラス混入のスラリーを含浸させたグリーンシートを作製し、これを積層し常圧成形する長繊維強化セラミック複合材の新しい成形プロセスを確立することを試みた。本成形法のキーポイントは、スラリー作製時にSiO_2-B_2O_3系ガラスを加えたことである。結果として、ホウケイ酸ガラスが繊維/マトリックス界面で重要な役割を果たしアルミナとホウケイ酸ガラスの混合比を変えることにより、繊維/マトリックス界面のテイラーリングが可能であることが明らかとなった。
以上のように、繊維/マトリックス界面のテイラーリングによって、プラスチック複合材料およびセラミック複合材料とも、新しい機能性を発現できることが明らかとなった。
