研究概要	本計画研究班の目的は、メリステムからの植物器官・組織の発生分化の分子的背景を様々な角度から研究することである。町田は、葉の扁平性と左右対称性について、シロイヌナズナの変異体であるale1とas2を用いて研究した。その結果、前者では表皮細胞の分化が、後者では維管束の分化が異常になっていることがわかった。ale1については遺伝子クローニングを行い、その塩基配列からサチライシンファミリーに属するセリンプロテアーゼをコードしている可能性が示唆された。それに関連してシロイヌナズナからトウモロコシのCRINKLY4(CR4)遺伝子のホモログ(ATCR4)をクローニングし、in situで発現部位を検討した。その結果、ATCR4はALE1遺伝子が発現している細胞の隣の細胞で発現していることがわかった。AS2遺伝子については、独自の方法により染色体歩行を行い、原因遺伝子をクローニングした。さらに、その変異が影響を与えているメリステム関連遺伝子を探索した。島本は、短日植物であるイネの光周性を研究し、光周性をなくした変異体se-5の原因遺伝子がHY1である可能性を示した。塚谷は、葉の長軸方向と横軸方向の成長の制御機構を研究してきた。クローニングしたROT遺伝子の発現系を用いて、これが葉の長軸方向への伸長に関わっていることを示した。中村は、しょ糖に対する植物の応答と器官分化の関連を研究するために、7500系統のアクティベイションタギングライブラリーを作製し、その中から、糖応答が異常になった変異体とメリステムが大きくなる新奇な変異体を得た。西谷は、タバコ培養細胞BY-2にEXGT cDNAアンティセンスを導入し、細胞形態と個体レベルでの異常を研究した。西村は、液胞へのタンパク質輸送系を研究して、小胞(PAC)に存在するタンパク質プロセシング機構を明らかにした。
