フォトニック結晶の軸射場の制御に関する理論研究

研究概要

平成10年度の研究計画は次の4つの柱からなっている。
(1)2次元結晶の精密評価、(2)3次元結晶の精密評価の準備、(3)誘導放出過程の理論研究、(4)輻射場の量子化と異常ラムシフト
(1),(2)については、単なるバンド計算というより、光応答の関連からの結晶の評価が重要になる。実際に合成されるのは有限の厚さを持つフォトニック結晶であるので、光応答の理論的な扱いは決してたやすくない。現時点までに単一層(純2次元系)の状熊密度からスタートして、有限厚さのフォトニック結晶の状態密度を計算する手法を作り上げることに成功した。球対称性のある単位の配列系についての計算は終了して、論文に発表、または投稿中である。次年度は、和田班の実験データへの以上の理論の応用、円筒対称性のある単位への拡張、また円筒の長さが有限な場合の単一層の系の光応答の計算などを予定している。
(3)については、フォトニック結晶中における、レーザー発振の定式化に成功した。反転分布のフォトニック結晶をマイナスの虚数部を持つ複素誘電率で表し、光の透過率の発散点から、レーザー発振のしきい値を見積もるやり方である。世界で初めての信頼のおける数値と、それを再現する簡単な解析的な表式とを得ている。この主題についての本質的な理解を得たと思っている。すでに幾つかの論文を発表、または投稿中である。この主題については、いろいろな発展の構想を持っていて、次年度以降の本班の中心課題の一つになる。
(4)については、フォトニック結晶を対象ににして、動的カシミヤ効果の計算が進行中である。98年春の物理学会の年会で第1回目の発表をした。
以上述べたごとく、平成10年度の実績は、計画の約80%の達成度である。
