研究概要	現存するアサガオの多様な変異体は全て自然突然変異体で、その大部分が我々が単離したEn/Spm系のTpn1類縁の非自律性転移調節因子の挿入による変異であり、易変性を示さない変異中にも、対応する自律性因子がジーンサイレンシングなどによりその活性が抑えられたため、一見安定な変異形質を示すものもあることを明らかにしてきた。事実、22系統の白色花変異体を分析し、新たに同定した3系統の挿入変異体は何れもTpn1類縁の非自律性因子Tpn8がアントシアニン色素生合成系のANS遺伝子プロモーター領域内の同一部位に挿入した変異であった。挿入Tpn8は転移脱離せず一見安定な変異ではあるが、極く僅かなANS遺伝子の発現も観察された。さらに、最近出現した白地に紅色の絞り花を咲かせる新たな易変性変異を解析したところ、この変異体もANS遺伝子内にTpn1と極めて似た配列をもつTpn9が挿入した変異であることが明らかになった。この結果は、Tpn1類縁因子が今なお転移して新たな興味深い変異体を創出し続けていることを示唆している。なお、ANS遺伝子の挿入変異はトウモロコシで1例報告されているだけで、花色に関わる遺伝子としては最初の解析例である。また、マルバアサガオの易変性「条斑」(flaked)変異に関わるAc/Ds系の自律性転移調節因子Tip100の挙動を詳細に解析した。さらに、大腸菌のRecQへリケース遺伝子を強制発現させたトランスジェニックイネを作出し、組換能や稔性などの興味ある遺伝形質を解析中である。
