研究概要

本年度は研究期間の最終年度にあたる.新たにえられた主な成果を以下に示す.
1.無限精度数値シミュレーションの新たな応用と精度限界の更新.
一様流に対する無限精度数値シミュレーションの適用法を開発した.これはつい最近成功したもので,本格的なシミュレーションは今後の課題である.また,通常では実行不可能な,物理メモリ以上のメモリ容量を必要とする数値シミュレーションを,多倍長計算ライブラリのメモリ節約機能を用いて実行した.これによって,1次元の境界値問題を誤差が10^<-2300>で計算できた.研究開始初年度の2倍の計算精度を達成した.これは,有効数字の桁数でいうと,2300桁というとてつもない超高精度である.通常の数値計算精度である倍精度計算の,実に150倍以上という驚異的な計算精度である.
2.ライブラリの公開.
無限精度数値シミュレーションに必要なライブラリ(連立一次方程式を解くためのガウスの消去法の多倍長計算版とこのPVMによる並列化版)をネット上で公開した.これは,今井のホームページに,ライブラリを収めた科件費報告集を公開することで実現した.
3.可視化における無限拡大法の開発.
無限精度数値シミュレーションが,補間法であるスペクトル法と多倍長計算の組み合わせであることに着目して,データの可視化における無限拡大というまったく新しい手法を開発した.実際,10^<100>倍に拡大しても情報は劣化していなかった.この拡大率は,宇宙の果ての原子核を20cm先のモニター上に数cmの大きさに拡大することに匹敵する,想像を絶するものである.
4.複雑な応用問題ヘの適用のための基礎研究.
流体問題の誤差解析手法の確立や精度保証付き数値計算法の効率化の成功など,多くの関連する研究成果がえられた.
