大規模電磁場擾乱の極冠域から赤道域への侵入・伝播過程

研究概要	本研究の目的は、極域から赤道域にわたる地球大気遷移圏(電離大気と中性大気が混合する80kmから数100kmの領域)での大規模な電磁気的な力学・作用過程を解明するために、次に、WIND衛星やIPS衛星の太陽風や粒子観測データと地上で観測された大規模な変動電磁場との総合的な比較解析をすることによって、太陽風擾乱現象の空間・時間スケールと地上の磁気赤道域まで侵入できる大規模な変動電磁場との因果関係をあきらかにする。更に、これらの地上・衛星の総合的なデータ解析結果を踏まえ、特に、極冠域と磁気赤道域における太陽風、磁気圏、電離圏、大気圏、地下を含めた電磁力学的な結合・作用過程を理論的に明らかにすることであった。平成11年度は、以下の計画に従って実施し、当初の目的の成果を得ることができた。 1. 極冠域と磁気赤道域での大規模変動電磁場観測平成11年度の基盤研究(A)(2)(代表:湯元)の旅費を用いて、210゜磁気子午線と磁気赤道に沿った観測ネットワークの特に、アラスカ、ロシア域と磁気赤道域の磁力計、電場計、オーロラ分光計等の機器の保守点検を行い、赤道域の観測点間との絶対時刻精度を1秒以内に保った同時観測の高精度のデータを確保した。 2. 総合的データ解析研究アラスカやシベリアのオーロラ帯とカナダの極冠域で観測される太陽風変動に伴うオーロラ、大気電場、降下粒子、大規模変動電磁場の諸特性について時間・空間的な相関解析研究を行った。その結果、極域の変動の形態や諸特性などを確立する、一方、WIND衛星やDMSP衛星の太陽風や粒子観測データとも比較解析することにより、太陽風の変動の空間・時間スケールと極冠域の地上の電磁場変動との相関性に関する手懸かり得られた。 3. 理論的な電磁気結合の考察極域で得られた高精度の総合的なデータ解析結果を踏まえ、太陽風領域から極冠域への電磁気擾乱の侵入、更に、磁気圏、電離圏、大気圏、地下の電磁的な結合系の中の磁気赤道域への伝播過程についての理論的な考察がなされた。 4. 成果のまとめと公表総合的なデータ解析や理論解析結果の研究成果は、1999年7月に英国で催されたIUGG、12月のサンフランシスコで開かれたアメリカ地球物理学会等の国際学会や国内学会で発表され、高い評価が得られた。
