大規模電磁場擾乱の極冠域から赤道域への侵入・伝播過程

研究概要	本研究の目的は、極域から赤道域にわたる地球大気遷移圏(電離大気と中性大気が混合する80kmから数100kmの領域)での大規模な電磁気的な力学・作用過程を解明するために、WIND衛星やIPS衛星の太陽風や粒子観測データと地上で観測された大規模な変動電磁場との総合的な比較解析をすることによって、太陽風擾乱現象の空間・時間スケールと地上の磁気赤道域まで侵入できる大規模な変動電磁場との因果関係をあきらかにし、更に、これらの地上・衛星の総合的なデータ解析結果を踏まえ、特に、極冠域と磁気赤道域における太陽風、磁気圏、電離圏、大気圏、地下を含めた電磁力学的な結合・作用過程を理言的に明らかにすることであった。平成13年度は、以下の計画に従って実施し、当初の目的の成果を得ることができた。 1.変動電離層電場の研究変動電離層電場研究のため、篠栗(福岡県)において、FM/CWレーダを設置し、電離層変動の定常観測を実現し、極域に侵入した電場変動による電離層の時間・空間変動を検出することに成功した。 2.総合的な極域データ解析研究アラスカやシベリアのオーロラ帯とカナダの極冠域で観測される太陽風変動に伴うオーロラ、大気電場、降下粒子・大規模変動電磁場の諸特性について時間・空間的な相関解析研究を行った.その結果、極域の電磁変動現象の形態や諸特性とISTP衛星の太陽風や粒子変動との相関に関して、非常に良い相関を示す例を多数得ることができた。 3.総合的な磁気赤道域データ解析研究磁気赤道域で観測されるジェット電流に重畳したDCからULF波動帯までの大規模な変動電磁場の諸特性について、太陽風中や磁気圏中の変動と磁気赤道域の変動電磁場との相関性を明らかにする手懸りが得られた。 4.大規模な極域変動と赤道域変動との比較解析研究極域並びに赤道域の変動電磁場現象の諸特性の中で、地上多点の地磁気観測網で位相差が数秒以内の現象に焦点を絞った比較解析研究がなされた。また、太陽風変動を伴う大規模な電磁場変動、特にDP2について、極冠域から中・低緯度を通り、磁気赤道域電離層までのグローバルな流入・伝播特性を明らかにする研究結果が複数得られた。 5.理論的な電磁気結合過程の考察極冠域の変動電場の赤道域までの大規模な侵入・伝播過程について、理論的な考察が行われ、磁気赤道域における磁気圏、電離圏、大気圏と地下を含んだ電磁気的な結合過程や上記の解析結果に対する理論的な考察が行われた。 6.研究成果の国際会議での発表以上の成果は、2001年8月にベトナムで開催された国際IAGA会議で発表され、国際的に高い評価を受けた。
