中間結合を基本とした光合成エネルギー伝達機構の新しい体系化

研究概要	光合成色素系の構築原理、エネルギー移動過程の詳細な検証のために、多様なアンテナ系について解析を行なった。多様性がもたらす考え方の広がりは、構築原理の多様性を明らかにし、その選択の原理を示唆することにつながる重要な点と考えるからである。 (1)現存の光合成生物で唯一クロロフィルd(Chl d)をアンテナ色素として持つ酸素発生型原核光合成生物Acaryochloris marinaでは、光化学系II(SP II)の電子供与体はChl aであり、アンテナは電子供与体はChl aよりもエネルギー準位の低いChl dであることから、エネルギー勾配に逆らったエネルギー移動過程があることが示唆されていた。そこで吸収極大よりも長波長側を励起し、短波長側の蛍光を精査することでそうしたエネルギー移動過程を調べた。736nm励起(吸収極大716nm)では Chl aのふたつの蛍光帯が670nmと686nmに、またChl dの蛍光が703nmに観測された。この結果、Chl dからChl aへのエネルギー移動が起こること、また途中のエネルギー準位を持つ特定のChl dがエネルギー移動のメディエーターになっていることが示された。 (2)アンテナ系の中ではタンパク質が関与しないことが知られる緑色硫黄細菌 Chlorobium repidum のクロロソームでの色素の会合構造のpH依存性を明らかにした。その結果、BChl dの側鎖によって依存性が異なること、少量しか存在しない成分が全体の構造の発展に大きく貢献すること、が判明した。 (3)藍色細菌での光合成系の発展を調べるために、始源性の高い生物を探索し、その培養を始めている。
