時系列海洋粒子フラックスの長期観測と地球環境動態

研究概要

本研究最終年度の平成13年度には、以下の実績を成就した。現在まで10年にわたる長期時系列セディメント・トラップ沈降粒子フラックスの試料収集をベーリング海ならびに北太平洋中部亜寒帯海域において継続してきた。本年度はこれら試料のうち後半5年分の生物源オパール、炭酸カルシウム、有機炭素等の成分等の変動を中心に分析・解析を推進した。気候変動の観点から、例えば北太平洋中部亜寒帯海域における1997年の異常に低いフラックス値や翌1998年の著しい極大値を考察した。これらのフラックス変動は、Pacific Decadal Oscillation(PDO), Arctic Oscillation(AO)などとの長期的変動との関連があると考えられる。論文に関しては"Long term monitoring of particle fluxes in the Bering Sea, 1990-1999, and the central subarctic Pacific, 1990-2000"のタイトルでTakahashi et al.3名で執筆を終えProgress in Oceanographyに投稿済みで既に印刷予定になっている(11.研究発表参照)。また、沈降粒子中のレディオラリア等の珪質プランクトン群集組成の解析にも成果を得た。分類検索に関しては、The Second Illustrated Guide to the Protozoaという本に検索手法を2つの章にわたって共著で執筆、出版した(11.研究発表参照)。
