研究概要

この1年は次の4つの研究に力を注いだ。
(1)Optimal stopping related to the ballot problem
(2)Optimal stopping related to the random walk
(3)A note on an identity related to the Stirling number of the first kind
(4)Choosing either the best or the second best when the number of applicants is random
(1)は2種類のボールの抽出に関する最適停止問題である。モデルの詳しい説明は昨年度の資料を参照されたい。6月にロシアのPeterozadovskで開催された国際会議Probabilistic Methods in Discrete Mathematicsで報告したのに続き、京都大学のワークショップでも発表する機会を得た。研究の概要は数理解析研の考究録で見ることが出きる。その後、F.T.Bruss教授(ベルギー)、F.Delbaen教授(スイス)等から責重なコメントを頂いたので、それらを考慮して最終的な論文にまとめ、専門誌に投稿する予定である。
(2)も2種類のボールの抽出に関する最適停止問題であるが、(1)が非復元抽出を仮定しているのに対し、ここでは復元抽出を仮定している。この研究も8月にポーランドのSzklarska Porebaで開催された国際会議STAT2000で報告したのに続き、京都大学のワークショップでも報告する機会に恵まれた。研究の概要は今夏刊行予定の考究録で見ることが出きる。もう少し完成度を高めるため今年も研究を続行する予定である。
(3)は良く知られたスターリング数に関する恒等式に対して、確率論的解釈を与えた。愛知大学の紀要に掲載した。
(4)は秘書問題のヴァージョンで応募者数が未知の場合の最適選択を議論した論文であり、専門誌に投稿中である。
