PHと温度の2つの外部刺激に応答するマイクロカプセル表面の設計

研究概要	温度に応答して変形する親水性ゲルマイクロカプセルを調製した。このマイクロカプセル膜はポリ(L-リジンイソプロピルアミド-テレフタル酸)であり、マイクロカプセルの内容物は水である。マイクロカプセルの粒子径は33℃と35℃の間で変化した。33℃以上では、マイクロカプセルは互いに凝集するが、この凝集したマイクロカプセル塊は分散媒(水)の温度を低下させると数秒間以内に再分散する。従って、温度に応答したマイクロカプセルの形状変化は可逆的である。また、このマイクロカプセル膜のNaClの透過速度も33℃と35℃の間で急激に変化した。25℃と35℃の間、又は、35℃と55℃の間では温度に依存せず、ほぼ一定値を示した。溶質の膜透過速度は35℃以上に比べて、33℃以下で高い。このようなマイクロカプセルの温度応答性はマイクロカプセル膜を形成する高分子の化学構造中にN-イソプロピルアミド基が存在するためである。L-リジンイソプロピルアミドはN-イソプロピルアクリルアミドに似た化学構造を持っている。また、ポリ(N-イソプロピルアクリルアミド)は相転移温度を33℃付近に持つ感温性親水性ゲルである。さらに、我々は、温度変化に応答する速度が、大きいゲルに比べて、小さいゲルの方が早いことを明らかにした。即ち、ゲルを微小にすること、あるいは薄膜にすることによって、刺激に対する応答性は高くなる。
