ゾルゲール法による全固体無機酸化物型光起電力素子の開発

研究概要

マクロスケールの細孔を有する多孔質酸化チタン薄膜を、ゾル-ゲルディップコーティング法を用いてアルコキシド前駆体溶液から作製した。水溶性高分子ポリエチレングリコール(PEG)に加え、同じく水溶性高分子であるポリビニルピロリドン(PVP)を添加し、薄膜の形態変化を調べた。PVPは分子量の大小にかかわらず前駆体溶液に良く溶解するため、その増粘効果によって、多孔質薄膜の膜厚を増大させうることが示された。成膜を数回繰り返すことで、細孔が三次元的に絡み合った膜厚1μm程度の多孔質酸化チタン薄膜が得られた。
上記手法によって作製した多孔質酸化チタン薄膜を光電気化学的物性の測定に供した。薄膜の多孔質化によって表面積が増大し、光電流が増大した。特に、有機色素によって酸化チタン薄膜を光増感した場合に、表面積の増大に伴う光電流増大が顕著に観察された。光増感色素として用いたジメチルアミノクマリン-3-カルボキシ酸(クマリン)、フルオレセイン、エオシンYの、増感効率と化学構造との関係を考察した。いずれの色素もカルボキシ基を介して酸化チタン表面に吸着しうると推測されるが、クマリンの光増感効率が特に大きかった。クマリンはカルボキシ基周囲の立体障害が小さく、加えて隣接位のカルボニル基と共同して酸化チタン表面に強く吸着するためであると推察された。
