炭素材料を用いた新規ホスト-ゲスト系の開拓と新物性発現

研究概要

(1)種々の条件で最表面をフッ素化したグラファイトのフッ素誘起sp^3欠陥の構造と電子状態をトンネル顕微鏡及びラマン散乱の実験により調べた。この結果、sp^3欠陥においては、フェルミ準位付近の状態密度がフッ素との共有結合の結果減少することが明らかとなった。また、ラマン散乱の結果、sp^3欠陥周辺では、π共役系の乱れが存在することが明らかとなった。(2)レーザーアブレーション法により、種々の組成のsp^2/sp^3混合炭素系を作成し、その構造と電子状態を調べた。ラマン測定の結果、sp^3が大部分を占める系においては、sp^3とsp^2構造が原子レベルで均一に分布し、sp^2組成が増加するとsp^2の島状構造が形成されることが明らかになった。また、電気伝導度、熱起電力測定より、sp^3を多く含む系では、可変長ホッピング伝導で記述される電子輸送現象を示すAnderson絶縁体状態であり、sp^2構造の増加により帯電効果が重要な役割を果たす。sp^2の更に多い系では乱雑金属的状態になることが明らかとなった。(3)単一のナノダイヤモンド粒子を水を分散媒として用い電気泳動法により、グラファイト或いはシリコン単結晶基板上に取り出す技術を開発した。この技術を用い、単一粒子を走査電顕及び原子間力顕微鏡により観察し、その構造を明らかにした。また、ナノダイヤモンド表面をフッ素化した粒子についても表面活性剤の存在下で同様な実験を行い、ナノ粒子を単離できることが明らかとなった。
