イオン工学的技法を利用する酸化チタン光触媒-活性炭素繊維の創製と環境浄化への応用

研究概要

近年、光触媒反応の環境浄化への応用研究が盛んである。実環境中に存在する有害汚染物質は極めて希薄であることが多く、効率よく光触媒反応を行うためには、活性炭のような対象物質を吸着し濃縮する機能と光触媒作用を組み合わせることが望ましい。本研究では、比較的低温で酸素雰囲気下での蒸着が可能なクラスターイオンビーム(ICB)法を駆使して、酸化チタン光触媒を活性炭素繊維の表面上に構築することを試みた。さらに、調製した酸化チタン光触媒/活性炭素繊維系を用いて、水中や空気中に希薄に存在するの有機化合物や有機ハロゲン化物の酸化分解反応について光触媒活性の評価を行った。
ICB法を利用することで、活性炭素繊維の機能性を損なうことなく酸化チタンの構築が可能である。この酸化チタン種は高い結晶性を有し、クラスターが島状に集合した状態で活性炭のミクロ構造を損なうことなく表面に担持される。水中に希薄に存在するアルコールの液相光触媒酸化分解反応などの結果から、反応物質がまず吸着剤の活性炭に吸着され、続いて表面拡散により酸化チタン上に移動することで効率良く光触媒分解されることが示され、活性炭の吸着濃縮作用が光触媒反応活性に好影響を及ぼすことを見出した。活性炭の吸着能を損なわないイオンビーム法を駆使する新しい光触媒-活性炭系の創製により、ダイオキシンや環境ホルモンなどの3次元空間に希薄に存在する汚染物質を対象とした環境浄化において、実用に適した高活性な光触媒系の設計が可能であることが明らかになった。
