不斉液晶反応場でのヘリカルポリアセチレンの合成とその電磁気的及び非線形光学的特性

研究概要

従来平面構造をとるとされてきた一次元共役系高分子のポリアセチレンに、ラセン構造を付与したヘリカルポリアセチレンを合成し、さらにその合成研究を展開した。
(1)キラルネマティック液晶からなる不斉反応場を構築し、そこでアセチレンを重合することにより、ラセン構造をもつヘリカルポリアセチレンを合成した。ポリアセチレン鎖およびそれらの束であるフィブリルのラセンの向きは、左旋性と右旋性のキラルドーパントを使い分けることで自在に制御できることを見出した。
(2)次に、軸性キラル化合物以外のドーパントして、不斉中心を持つフェニルシクロヘキシル化合物を合成した。軸性キラルバイナフトール誘導体よりも半分以下の旋光度をもつこの分子系からなる不斉液晶場においても、ヘリカルポリアセチレンが合成できることを示した。同時に、ヘリカルポリアセチレンのねじれの度合いは、キラルドーパントのヘリシティによって制御できることを明らかにした。
(3)軸性キラルバイナフトール誘導体や含不斉中心化合物をチタン錯体の配位子として用いることで、キラルドーパントのみならず、触媒能をも有する新規キラルチタン錯体を合成した。これを用いた不斉反応場においても、ヘリカルポリアセチレンが合成できることを見出した。
(4)基板に対して垂直に配向するホメオトロピックなネマティック液晶に、軸性キラルバイナフトール誘導体をキラルドーパントとして加えることで、垂直に配向したキラルネマティック液晶を調製した。これを反応場とするアセチレン重合により、フィブリルがフィルムの膜面に対して垂直に配向した、垂直配向ヘリカルポリアセチレンを合成することができた。
