研究概要	本領域は「がん研究の総合的推進に関する研究」の一環として、がんの生物学的研究を担うものである。すなわち、がんの生物学的特性を明らかにすることによって、がんの予防、診断、治療に貢献することを目的とする。本年度の総括班における成果を以下に列記する。 1.がんの生物学的研究の分野において未解決の重要な問題を解明するために、総括班は以下の5項目について研究を計画した。A01:がん細胞の増殖応答の異常の研究、A02:がんの形成過程における細胞の分化と死の研究、A03:がん細胞の制御異常とがん形質の研究、A04:がん細胞の浸潤と転移の研究、A05:組織形成異常とがんとの関連の研究。 2.領域代表者である高井義美をA01の班長とし、以下、A02平井久丸、A03秋山徹、A04清木元治、A05渋谷正史とした。また、本研究分野で顕著な業績を持つ研究者5名(谷口維紹、宮島篤、月田承一郎、西田栄介、広橋説雄)を総括班に加え、主として研究計画実施の方針に対する助言および各研究項目長とともに研究成果の評価にあたることとした。 3.研究を推進するために、重要かつ緊急性のあるテーマと優れた研究者を計画的に支援する目的で、各項目ごとで、総計40の研究計画を設定し、これに担当する研究代表者と分担者の選定と研究内容の評価を行った。また、公募により自由な発想に基づく研究を募集し、この研究内容を評価した。 4.総括班会議および分野長会議を開催しており、上記重要課題につき検討上、方針を決定し領域の円滑な運営を進めた。このように、私共は、本年度の予定をほぼ達成することができた。
