研究概要	本総括班はがんの疫学研究領域における5つの研究分野、1)国際比較による民族疫学的研究、2)要因解明を目指した大規模コーホート研究、3)発がん・予防に関する分析疫学的研究、4)環境発がんリスクの個体差を解明する分子疫学的研究、5)進展・予後に関する臨床疫学的研究、の特異性を活かしながら幅広い疫学研究を推進している。さらに、総括班のもとに二つの委員会、1)大規模コーホート研究運営委員会、2)分子疫学生体材料利用委員会、を設置し、各分野間で共有できる研究資料や生体材料の効率的運用を図り、それぞれの特異性にあった資材共同利用のための運営方法を検討している。今年度は大規模コーホート研究で収集された13,000検体の血清材料についてコーホート血清利用委員会でコンセンサスの得られた各種検査項目(SOD活性、IGF、sFas、TGF-β1)について一括測定を終了し、それらと生活習慣に関する調査結果を合わせ、全死亡と全がん死亡の要因、および肺がん、胃がんの危険・防御要因などの解析に活用した。また、分子疫学生体材料利用委員会では、国内の33施設で収集保存されているリンパ球(60,000検体)、DNA(15,000検体)、および鹿児島大学で保管されている世界19カ国から収集された生体材料(16,358個体)、などの具体的な利用方法について検討してきた。一方では、領域内で総括報告会を開催し、全分野の計画研究(22課題)や公募研究(22課題)の成果に関する相互情報交換、および各研究の問題点や研究協力の可能性などについて建設的な討議を行ってきた。さらに、がんの要因に関する遺伝子・環境交互作用を明らかにする分子疫学コーホートの設立、本邦に特異的なATLに関する包括的な研究を推進するための委員会の設立、ヒトを対象とした疫学・予防研究の成果の国民への伝達、など今後の重要課題についても検討してきた。
