研究概要	本年度は1997年1月に水産庁調査船開洋丸が日本海全域で採集した動物プランクトン試料を解析し、生物量の分布および代表的な肉食プランクトンであるヤムシ類の出現種別分布、卓越種キタヤムシの食性について諸知見を得た。また本年度に作製したスキャンマー付きフレーム式サンプリングネットの試験操業を1999年9月に北大練習船北星丸も用いて行った。肉食性プランクトンの冬季日本海における生物量は0-500層では60-117gでありカイアシ類についで量の多い動物プランクトンである。生物量の鉛直分布を0-1000m層でみると、北部日本海では200m以浅の表層で高く、深度とともに減少したが、表層に対馬暖流の影響をうける中部・南部日本海では200-400mの中層に生物量の極大が認められた。全動物プランクトンの中でヤムシ類の占める割合も中層で高く、最高では70.7%を占めていた。冬季には3属7種が採集されたが、中部・南部の表層ではSagitta nagae, S. minimaの2種が多く、水温躍層の下にはS. elegans(キタヤムシ)のみが生息しており、分布深度も1000m以深の深海まで到達していた。カイアシ類がキタヤムシの主な餌生物でこの他、端脚類、介形類が捕食され、共食いも認められた。餌保有率は太平洋と比べるとどの測点でも小さく、キタヤムシの体長と捕食された餌の大きさには相関関係が認められた。日本海における2月のスルメイカの再生産可能海域は1996,97は縮小し、1998,99年は拡大している。今年10月の調査ではスルメイカの幼生は対馬暖流の強流域には出現せず、隠岐諸島の北側のフロントから多く採集され、東に行くほどより大型の孵化幼生が出現した。
