研究概要

1.北グリーンランド氷床深層コア掘削解析研究計画(NGRIP計画)への参加:グリーンランド氷床深層コアの総合解析から、過去の地球環境情報、特にイーミアン間氷期およびそれ以前の気候変動情報を取得することを目的とし、北グリーンランドにおいて氷床深層コア掘削を実施した。本年度は深さ2931mから3001mまで深層コア掘削を行った。また、表層部におけるフィルンエア・サンプリング(78m深)と浅層コア採取(100m深)を実施した。
2.アルタイ山脈における氷河調査;中央アジアにおける気候環境変動の復元を目指し、ロシア連邦アルタイ共和国ソフィスキー氷河においてハンドオーガーによる25.1mまでのコア採取を実施した。現地ではこのコアを融解し、化学分析用サンプル(水試料)を作成し、これらを国内に持ち帰った。また、現地では掘削孔内の温度分布測定および4.5mピット観測、気象観測を実施した。
3.カナダ、マウントローガンにおける氷河調査:北太平洋域における気候・環境変動の復元を目的とし、平成14年度にカナダ、ユーコン準州,マウントローガンにおいて雪氷、コア掘削を行うため、積雪量、積雪中化学物質、酸素同位対比、融雪量の標高依存性を調べた。標高の異なる5地点でピット観測とピット試料の採取を実施した。調査の結果、年間積雪量は3-4mであること、また、標高4200mのキングコルは夏期でも殆ど融雪が起こらず雪氷コア掘削地点として最適であることが分かった。
