研究概要

本研究は,特定領域研究(1)「成層圏力学過程とオゾンの変動およびその気候への影響」(略称「成層圏変動と気候」)の総括班であり,中層大気研究者の特にデータ解析・数値モデルによる研究を主体とする研究グループを編成して,「成層圏オゾンと大気大循環の変動に関する研究」,「大気微量成分の時空間変動を通して見た熱帯成層圏-対流圏結合」,「高分解能大気大循環モデルの開発と成層圏物質循環の研究」,「大規模大気波動に伴う物質輸送とその季節変動・年々変動」の4計画研究を総括することを目的としている.本年度は本特定領域研究の最終年度にあたる.
平成14年5月24日に総括班会議を開催し,平成14年11月に開催する国際シンポジウムを平成14年度公開シンポジウムと兼ねることを決定した.国際シンポジウム開催にあたって,国内外の招待講演者の選定,一般講演募集,ポスター講演などについて議論した.これに基づいて,国内外の招待講演予定者に招待状を送付した.また,Second Circular, Third Circularを作成しホームページ上で公開し,講演募集を行った.
平成14年9月には,平成13年3月に本研究領域が共催した"Coupling of the troposphere and Stratosphere by dynamical, radiative and chemical processes"の論文集"Stratosphere-Troposphere Coupling"をJour. Meteor. Soc. Japanの特別号として出版した.
平成14年9月13日に総括班会議を開催し,国際シンポジウムの開催の具体的検討を行った.また,平成15年度「大学と科学」公開シンポジウムで一般向け講演を企画し本特定領域研究の成果を広く公開する申請を行うことを決定した.
平成14年11月12-15日に国際シンポジウム"International Symposium on Stratospheric Variations and Climate"を日本を含む10カ国から96名(内外国人27名)の参加者のもとで開催し,21の招待講演を含む60編以上の講演が行われ,本特定領域研究の成果を諸外国に発信するとともに,諸外国での最新の研究成果を含め活発な討論が行われた.また,英文の講演要旨集(Extended Abstract,238ページ)を同時に発刊した.
