研究概要	分子性化合物は、光透過性、軽量化、化学的修飾による拡張性などに優れており、分子性磁石の構築および磁性研究は、物性科学研究の中で重要な位置を占めている。本研究は、 "分子性" の特長を生かした、特異な物性を有する強磁性体の構築およびその物性の可能性を明らかにすることを目的として研究を進めている。光、電気、磁気、各々の性質が解明されつつある現在、これらの性質が共存、あるいは互いに影響し合う "多重機能" 性が注目を集めている。光と磁性の絡んだ現象として、不斉な磁性体の中を光が通過する際、不斉分子による光学活性と磁性体によるファラデー効果の単純な足し合わせ効果の他に、吸光度、屈折率等が磁化の向きによって変化する "磁気不斉二色性(MChDeffect)" が、最近理論的に予測された。光に対して透明な磁性体は分子性でのみ実現可能であるので、我々の手法を用いて、不斉有機ラジカルを新規に合成し、マンガンイオンと錯形成を行うことにより、不斉な磁気構造を持つ分子磁石の合成に成功した。
