研究概要

タンパク質繊維の高度のリサイクル化を最終目標として、タンパク質の可溶化物を用いてタンパク質繊維を加工する新技術開発を目的とした基礎的かつ応用的研究を行った。すなわち、廃棄タンパク質繊維(絹、羊毛)を原料として種々の機能材料(コーティング、ボンディング剤)を開発すること、及びこれを用いてタンパク質繊維集合体を加工し、タンパク質のみから成り立つ高品質の加工布や不織布を開発することを目的とした。代表者と分担者はそれぞれの研究領域からのアプローチを行い、絹、羊毛、蜘蛛の糸、合成ポリペプチドなどの領域で多くの成果を得た。
人工飼料育蚕糸の構造、溶解性や力学的性質及び酸性染料による染色挙動を検討し、桑葉育のそれらとの明瞭な差異を見出した。サクシニル化羊毛の吸湿・吸収性を未処理羊毛と比較し、その改善を認めた。羊毛や絹の加工工程での構造変化と膨潤状態での構造解析法としてインヴァース液クロ法の有効性を見出した。蜘蛛の糸の力学的性質を調べ、安全工学的な巧妙さを見出すなどの新しい発見があり、また、タンパク質布帛の透湿性を高感度で評価する方法が開発された。具体的応用的な成果としては、スパンレース絹不織布を調製し、その細孔構造と製造条件との関係を調べている。また、人工飼料育繭糸のセリシンが熱水に易溶であることに着目し、これを用いて絹布の表面加工を行いその力学特性について検討し、本課題の実現性を確認した。また、本研究過程で超臨界水法による絹や羊毛の効率的可溶化の可能性を見出し、これに関しては次年度以降の基盤研究(申請中)でさらに発展させる予定である。
