分子磁石における量子性と散逸現象の研究

研究概要	本研究では、分子磁石を対象としてより単純なナノサイズ系における非可逆性に関連した物理現象を追及することを第一の目的とし、基礎的研究を発展させて、より複雑なナノサイズ系も含めた系における非可逆性の理解に寄与することをめざす。巨視的結晶である分子磁性体は同一分子の集合体であり、それ故に同一寸法のナノサイズ磁石からなる分子磁石集合体(単一分散系)とみなすことが出来る。ナノサイズ系の特徴は離散的な量子エネルギー準位の構造を直接反映した量子的振る舞いがみられることにある。したがって系の量子エネルギー準位の確定が重要である。具体的には、予定した11年度計画にしたがってモデルとなる十分よく規定された金属錯体分子集合体を合成し、あるいは合成化学者から試料の提供を受けて、多核分子磁性体Mn12,Fe12を含む多彩な分子磁石結晶体についてパルス磁場を用いた磁化測定を行った。いずれの系においても、量子エネルギー準位の交差に関連する明確な磁化過程の逐次転移を観測し、特に Fe12 についてはフローレンス大Gatteschi教授グループとの共同研究の成果としてはじめて量子エネルギー準位を決定することが出来た。次年度には、定量的な実験データを確定して理論的解析を行い、とくに量子ダイナミクスによる準安定状態の緩和機構すなわち量子トンネリングによる磁気緩和の機構を解明する。結果は既に学術論文や学会発表として部分的に公表を行った。
