研究概要

1.地球マントル対流の数学モデルである球殻内の無限プラントル数レイリー・ベナール方程式に対して,安定化有限要素スキームを用いた並列計算コードの開発と数値シミュレーションを行った.開発を行った計算コードは近似解の収束性が保証された実用的なものであり,次の特徴を持っている.(1)球殻計算領域が持つ対称性を利用し合同な部分領域に分割を行うことで,必要な記憶容量を大幅に削減した.(2)本質的境界条件と剛体回転や圧力自由度を除去する線形拘束条件を統一的に扱い,正射影付きクリロフ部分空間法を用いてプログラムの簡略化と高速化を行った.
2.3次元球殻内の対流コードを用いて大陸の存在とマントル対流の相互作用について調べた.プルームが数億年程度で大陸下に生じること数値的に示した.
3.精度保証付き数値計算法を次の問題に対して定式化しその計算例を与えた.(1)弾塑性変形に現れる自由境界問題に対する変分不等式の解.(2)非線形楕円型方程式の真の解で線形化した楕円型作用素の固有値問題の固有値と固有関数.(3)固有値の候補を与え,それを実際の固有値として持つような楕円型作用素のポテンシャル関数の構成.
4.流体中の渦糸の3次元運動や3次元不安定性の漸近解析および数値解析を行った.(1)粘性流体中を運動する軸対称渦輪の進行速度の高い精度の計算を可能にする速度の一般公式を導いた.太さ0の円を初期条件とする渦輪に対して数値計算を実行した.(2)渦輪の3次元不安定性を,ハミルトン的スペクトル理論の観点から計算した.曲率の効果により軸対称撹乱と屈曲撹乱が共鳴不安定を起こすことを初めて示した.(3)曲がった渦管による誘導速度を高精度で計算するための,Biot-Savart法則に対する系統的な高次漸近展開法を開発した.
