研究概要	日光中宮祠で採取した樹齢250年のミズナラ(Quercus crispola)の外樹皮、入皮、年輪、着生コケ植物のそれぞれに含まれる鉛の量と鉛安定同位体比(^<206>Pb/^<207>Pb)についてICP質量分析計を用いて分析した。その結果、年輪中に含まれる鉛の量は0.01-0.1mg kg^<-1>を示し、その値には過去から現在に至る時系列変化は見られなかった。一方、入皮に含まれる鉛の量は1875年以降しだいに増加し、その値は0.1-10mg kg^<-1>を示した。また着生コケ植物中の鉛の量は17mg kg^<-1>を示した。このような結果は、明治開国以降の日本の産業化に伴う大気の鉛汚染のモニタリングに入皮は極めて有効であるが、これに反して年輪は有効ではないことを示していた。入皮中の鉛の安定同位体比については1964年以降、その値は1.18から1.16へと変化していた。また、樹木着生コケ植物中の鉛の安定同位体比は1.16を示していた。この結果は1964年以降、日本で使用されている鉛化合物のもととなる鉛鉱石の産地が変化したことを示していた。英国シェフィールド郊外で採取したブナ(Fagus sylvatica)については、1919年から1998年に至る入皮が得られ、含まれる鉛の量は7-78mg kg^<-1>を示し、鉛安定同位体比は1.11から1.15を示し、外樹皮のその値は1.11であった。以上の結果は、日本の日光と英国のシェフィールド郊外とでは鉛の汚染度が大きく異なること、また、それぞれの国で使用されている鉛化合物の起源となる鉛鉱石の産地も異なることを示していた。
