研究概要	バックミンスターフラーレン(C^<60>は、その大量合成法が開発されて以来、様々な分野への応用が期待されているが、そのためには簡便かつ一般的な誘導体化が必要となる。C^<60>およびその他の高次フラーレン類(C^<70>など)は空間的に閉じた巨大なπ電子系であり、電子を収容する能力が非常に高い分子である。本研究では、このフラーレンの特性を最大限活用して、まずフラーレンの電子移動還元反応について検討し、得られるフラーレンジアニオンの高い電子供与能力を利用して全く新しいタイプの物質変換手法を開発することを目的とする。種々のラジカルアニオン種からハロゲン化アルキルへの電子移動反応速度定数とフラーレンジアニオンとハロゲン化アルキルとの反応速度定数を決定し、両者の値をマーカス理論に基づいて比較することで、フラーレンジアニオンのアルキル化反応における電子移動過程の役割を明らかにした。フラーレンテトラベンジル付加体の合成に初めて成功し、そのX線結晶構造解析によりベンジル基の付加位置が決定できた。その位置は文献既知のフラーレンテトラ付加体の付加位置とは全く異なることがわかった。種々のアルキル付加体フラーレンについてその還元電位をサイクリックボルタモグラムにより決定し、アルキル基の数、位置、および種類による還元電位の変化について検討した。また、電気化学的分光法により種々のアルキル付加体フラーレンモノアニオン、ジアニオンの吸収スペクトルを測定し、速度論研究の基礎データを得ることができた。
