クラ地峡を境界とするツパイ類、マメジカ類、センザンコウ類の地理学的変異の検討

研究概要	本年度は、研究計画に従い、コモンツパイ、ジャワマメジカ、マレーヒヨケザル、イノシシの頭骨標本の計測を進めた。クラ地峡の南北の集団から計測を行うため、ハーバード大学比較動物学博物館、国立シンガポール大学博物館に出向き、骨格標本の検討を進めた。また、いわき市、大阪府立大学でも研究成果の検討を実施した。また、国内外各組織に収蔵されているエタノール液漬標本から筋肉組織を採取することで、DNA解析を進めた。遺伝子分析は、代表者・分担者により、国立科学博物館の既存設備で推進、cytochromeb、12SrRNA、D-loop領域を対象に塩基配列をデータ化した。特定のプライマーを作製し、ダイレクトシークエンスによって、塩基配列を決めた。同時に遺伝子の凍結保存を進めている。さらにコモンツパイのクラ地峡の南北集団からは、染色体核形解析を実施した。検討の結果、とくにコモンツパイ集団においてはクラ地峡より100-200km南方での形態学的・遺伝学的分断が明確となった。境界部では両集団の同所的分布が確認された。また11年度に検討された外部毛色の情報から、コモンツパイに関しては外部形態で両集団の識別が確実に行えることとなった。また他種においても、同地帯で形態学的分断が明確であり、クラ地峡周辺が生物地理学的障壁として、大きな意義をもつことが明確となった。また分断域がクラ地峡から離れることについては、地峡成立後(海峡消失後)の集団の進出が影響しているものと推察され、今後、過去10万年レベルの各種の分布域の変動を解析する必要が指摘された。解析結果は各研究機関で批評を受け、すでに多数の学術誌出版物として印刷され、あるいはその途上にある。
