三重項有機分子の安定化とその複合化による磁性分子素材の構築

研究概要	三重項カルベンは高スピン有機分子の構成単位として有用であることが知られているにも関わらず、不安定であるため、これまで余り利用されてこなかった。我々は三重項カルベンをスピン源として利用する場合のこのような問題を解決するために、(1)三重項カルベンの安定化を行い、完全に安定なものを合成し、(2)それを構成単位として持つ安定な磁性有機分子を構築することを目的としてこの研究を開始した。 (1)前年度に引き続いて三重項ジフェニルカルベン(DPC)のオルト位に保護基を導入することによる安定化を試みた。その結果、CF_3とBr基を両側のフェニル基のオルト位に適当に組み合わせ、またパラ位にアリール基を導入することによって、非常に安定化し、室温溶液中で完全に分解するまで1日以上を要する長寿命DPCの合成に成功した。一方、カルベンの不対電子を非局在化することによって熱力学的に安定化しているジアントリルカルベンは、10位にかさ高い置換基を導入することによって非常に長寿命化し、室温溶液中で数日以上を要する非常に長寿妙なカルベンの合成に成功した。このようなカルベンは結晶化が可能なほどの寿命を持っているので、今後結晶構造解析を行いたい。 (2)有機磁性体の発生源となるポリジアゾ化合物の合成経路はある程度は確立したが、多重度の特性化を行う場合、極低温マトリックスで全てのジアゾ官能基が効率良く分解することが必要である。種々検討した結果光分解が低温でも円滑に起こり、かつ発生したカルベン単位が十分に安定化されている系としてアントリル基を有するジアゾ化合物であることが判明した。そこでアントリル基を持つジアゾ化合物を複数個持つポリジアゾ化合物を合成し、光分解し多重度をESR、SQUIDを用いて特性化したところ、ほぼ理論通りの多重度を示す結果が得られた。今後この手法をさらに拡張し、多重度と安定性を高める方向で研究を行いたい。
