研究概要	重要にして付加価値の高い有機分子の探索源として未解明生物現象に注目し、鍵化学物質が短寿命と稀少性を併せ持った、解決の困難な問題に挑戦する。複合系の中心課題としては、(1)トガリネズミの麻酔物質、(2)オニヒトデの摂餌刺激誘引物質、(3)沖縄産二枚貝の毒性物質に関する研究があげられる。 (1)トガリネズミは自分よりも大きなミミズや昆虫を噛むことによって麻酔し巣穴に貯蔵する習性がある。また北米に生息するブラリナトガリネズミの唾液は有毒であり、自分より大きなネズミを殺すほどその毒性は強いとされるが、現在までに活性本体は明らかにされていない。そこでブラリナトガリネズミの顎下腺を抽出し、ゲルろ過・イオン交換カラムクロマトグラフィーなどを用いて分離を行った。現在、毒性本体は分子量3万前後のタンパク質であると推定している。 (2)サンゴ礁域ではオニヒトデによる珊瑚の食害は深刻な問題であり、効果的な駆除法の開発が望まれている。そこで摂餌刺激物質の探索を行い、活性物質としてアラキドン酸、α-リノレン酸およびベタインを単離した。沖縄にて野外試験を行い、一晩で8匹のオニヒトデを捕獲することができた。また北海道にてウニなどを食害し海産資源に深刻な影響を与えているタコヒトデに関しても、効果的な駆除法の確立を目指して誘引物質の探索を行っている。現在までにキタムラサキウニ抽出物の水溶性画分に誘引活性があることを見いだした。 (3)沖縄産二枚貝の食中毒原因物質の解明を目指し、有毒成分の抽出・分離を行った。イワカワハゴロモガイからは強い毒性を示すピンナトキシンB, Cを単離し、その構造を決定した。また、マベガイの内臓及び外套膜抽出物からは、強力な毒性を示すプテリアトキシン類を単離した。ナノモルオーダーの構造決定を達成することができた。
